The purpose of Freedom Church Denton is to glorify God(1 Cor 10:31) through the edification and equipping of the saints (Eph 4:12)and the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the unsaved (Acts 1:8) .

We are committed to exemplifying and teaching a Christian life that is led by the Holy Spirit and holds firm to the truth of God's word. (John 4:24)

Discipleship

Join our community of believers walking through life together. Teaching, edifying, strengthening, mourning and rejoicing with each other through life's accomplishments and challenges.

Missions

Obeying the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20 to go and make disciples of all the nations, we are a church with an outward focus to minister to the unrecognized, under served and untouched peoples of the world, locally and abroad.

Our Beliefs

Having submitted ourselves to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we bind ourselves together as a community of faith under one Lord, one faith, and one baptism (Eph. 4:3-5). Together we affirm the following statements of doctrine

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He is the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Holiness. He regenerates, indwells, baptizes, seals, and empowers believers that are in Christ Jesus. He illuminates the Word of god, encourages and comforts the saints, and convinces and convicts of sin and righteousness. In these last days, He has been poured out on all flesh, empowering His sons and His daughters to bear witness of Jesus Christ and the gospel. He is the source of true spirituality, true spiritual fruit, and all the spiritual gifts that have been appointed for the church (Matt. 28:19, 3:16; Rom. 8:9; John 16:13; Rom. 1:4; Tit. 3:5-6; 1 Cor. 3:16, 12:13; Eph. 1:13; John 14:16-17; John 16:8; Acts 2:17; Gal. 5:22; Rom. 12:4).

Man

Marriage and Human Sexuality

We believe that all matters of faith and conduct must be evaluated on the basis of Holy Scripture, which is our infallible guide (2 Tim. 3:16-17). We are committed to the home and family as set forth in the Scriptures. We believe God has ordained and created marriage to exist between one man and one woman, with absolute marital fidelity. The Bible sets forth specific home and family values, which include the distinct roles of husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, and children. It is our conviction that we uphold the dignity of each individual as we embrace the unchanging and longstanding principles of Scriptural truth.

Salvation

Salvation is received by grace through faith alone in Christ. The only means to salvation is belief in Christ's substitutionary death and resurrection, which satisfied the wrath of God against the sin of the individual. There is an eternal state of punishment for the unsaved and an eternal state of blessing for the saved. (Acts 4:12; 13:38-39; 16:31; 1 Cor. 15:1-4; Rom. 4:4-5; 8:28-29; 5:1; John 3:16; Eph. 2:8-9)

The Church

The Church is the corporate body of Christ that is composed of all truly regenerate believers. It is universal as well as particular and local. I can find its simplest expression in the company of two or three gathered in the name of Jesus Christ. It also finds its more normative and ecclesiastical expression in the local assembly that is the primary vehicle that God has prescribed for His praise, worship and exaltation, the edification and equipping of the saints, and the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations. The local assembly is characterized by minimal organization, godly governance, ordinances and functions, offices, gifts, and marks of health. It is more of an organism than it is an organization, that receives its direction, power, purpose, and principle from its head, Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:22-23; 5:24-30; 1 Cor. 12:4-13,27; Matt 18:20; Eph. 4:12; Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Matt. 16:18; Acts 6).

The Spiritual Gifts

The spiritual gifts or, charisma, are divinely conferred gifts or powers bestowed by the Holy Spirit. They are appointed for the church for the purpose of edifying and building up the body of Christ, and they serve as signs for believers and unbelievers alike. They will find their cessation when the perfect has come, which is none other than the Second Coming of Christ. The gifts are good, are to be desired earnestly, and stewarded humbly, to the praise, honor, and glory of Jesus Christ and for the edification of the saints. They are properly gifts of the Holy Spirit and not of men. They are not to be prohibited nor quenched. They are not to be abused or ;misused for one's own glory. They consist of "ordinary" and "extraordinary" manifestations. Gifts of the Holy Spirit will always serve to glorify the person and name of Jesus and not any individual because the Spirit exists to glorify the Son in the same way that the Son exists to glorify the Father (1 Cor. 12:4,7,8-12,28; 14:1, 39; 1 Thess. 5:19; John 16:14; Eph. 4:12).

The Christian Life

Believers are called to live a holy life of service and consecration to God. They are accountable to the local church and to the propagation of the faith. They are called to live as sojourners in this world prepared for the imminent return of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They have been entrusted with the sacred responsibility and privilege of making disciples of all nations (1 Pet. 1:15-16; Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 3:12-17; John 14:1-3).

The Ordinances

The Word of God sets forth two ordinances for the church. they are the Lord's Supper and Water Baptism. The Lord's Supper is to be celebrated routinely in remembrance of the finished work of Christ Jesus and in expectancy of His imminent return. Water Baptim is the initiatory rite into the Christian faith much in the same way that circumcision was in the Old Testament. It should be the first evidence and fist act of obedience of a truly repentant heart that has expressed saving faith in Christ Jesus. The water itself is not what saves, but the appeal that is made to a clean conscience (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 8:12, 36-38, 9:18, 10:47; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; 1 Pet. 3:21).

The Last Things

The blessed hope of the church is the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He will return as a thief in the night, not as a Lamb, but as a Lion. He will judge the living and the dead, separating the wheat from the chaff, the wicked and the righteous. The unbelieving will experience the second death being thrown into the lake of fire that was created for Satan and his angels. He will destroy this present world order and establish a new heaven and a new earth where the elect will reign with Him for eternity (Tit. 2:13; 1 Thess. 5:2; 2 Tim. 4:1; Matt. 3:12; Rev. 20:12-15; Rev. 21-22).

Our Leaders

The affairs of Freedom Church Denton are managed by its Board of Elders. This church acknowledges the Lord Jesus Christ as its head; the Holy Scriptures as the infallible guide in the matter of faith, church order, and discipline; the Holy Spirit as its teacher; and is neither accountable to nor under the jurisdiction or supervision of any other ecclesiastical body. Executive authority in spiritual matters and material matters is invested in the Board of Elders.

Marc Pinneo met Jesus the Messiah in the late Seventies. After growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, he became involved in full time street ministry in Anaheim, CA working with drug addicts, ex-cons, gang members and the homeless during the early Eighties. It was during this time that the Lord sent Marc to do missionary work in Belize, Guatemala and Southern Mexico. After returning to the United States in the late Eighties, he met his wife Renee and they raised a family of Jesus loving children. While raising their family, God continued to open doors for Marc to teach His Word in a variety of venues including church services, home Bible studies, men’s ministry and Messianic fellowships. Marc's passion has been, and continues to be, seeing people growing closer to Jesus through His Word and by His Spirit. In February 2017, Marc's lovely bride of 27 years unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord. However, God continued to comfort their family as they walked with Him through that time. Marc along with his oldest son Dominic and his wife Mary, daughter Tiffanie and her husband Chris and 5 grandchildren then rejoiced as his youngest son Jared became engaged to a lovely and godly young lady named Jessica, and youngest daughter Gabrielle was married a few weeks later to Kyle, who also has a huge heart for the Lord. The Holy Spirit then began to tug on Marc's heart to teach again. He now leads the Men's Bible study for Freedom Church Denton and serves on the Board of Elders. Marc has a good day job managing a small reporting team for a large financial institution, for which he is deeply thankful. The rest of his time is spent mentoring a number of young men and teaching the Word whenever he is given the opportunity. Marc hopes to continue spending time encouraging others in their walk with Jesus.

Alton has served as a Christian teacher since 1997 and was a member of Christian Center Assembly of God for 40 years. He served as CEO in pediatric home health for 18 years and worked in youth inner-city ministry. Alton currently serves as the Denton Freedom House Chairman of the Board and COO, and serves at Freedom Church Denton as Senior Pastor and Elder of Pastoral Care. Alton and Staci Schmidt have been married 22 years. They Co-Founded Operation Inspiration, served as CEO and COO of Eleos Community Care, and have partnered in ministry for the past 22 years. Alton and Staci have two sons, who also serve at Freedom Church Denton. Their oldest son, Joseph, plays bass guitar for the worship team. Their youngest son, Michael, serves on the media team and in missions. Joseph and Michael attend Denton Calvary and are active in sports as well.

Jeremy and his wife, Karen, founded the Denton Freedom House in 2004 in obedience to a call God had placed on their hearts. Alongside their 4 boys (Jared, Hudson, Nathan, and Jaden), they have faithfully served in the Kingdom through bringing opportunities of new life to broken men through the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ at the Denton Freedom House. While leading as the CEO of DFH for 15 years, Jeremy served in front-line mission work across South Asia and as an Elder and Pastor of Freedom Church. Jeremy and his family have been an incredible blessing to many; they have catalyzed the spiritual growth of many while also caring for the physical needs of those in need. We know that this family truly inclines its heart to the Word of God to obey it (Luke 11:28), and furthermore is a blessing to serve and do life with.

Douglas Wright and his wife Nancy in obedience, answered a call placed on their hearts to join the church that met at the Denton Freedom House. Since the inception of the new Freedom Church Denton alongside their daughter Kaelyne, they have faithfully served in the Kingdom through bringing opportunities of jail / prison ministry as well as outreach ministry. While leading the jail / prison ministry, Douglas also serves as elder while Nancy is head of the women’s ministry and Kaelyne in mission work of Freedom Church Denton.

Dustin and Andrea Sharpe. Directors of Worship and Media

Dustin and Andrea Sharpe met though the ministries of the Denton Freedom House in 2013. After 4 years of faithfully attending and serving, they got married in 2017 and became the worship leaders of Freedom Church Denton. As both worship leaders and avid song-writers, Dustin and Andrea have a strong passion to minister to the heart of God through authentic worship in spirit and truth. Along with music ministry, Dustin and Andrea also have a deep love for fostering healthy community within the church. They yearn to see the body of believers come alongside one another in unity to function well as the Body of Christ.
